Home Acne Remedies
Choosing Home Acne Remedies
Sometimes it seems that everybody has there own pet home acne remedies. There is certainly no shortage of
alternative home acne remedies out there. Here we’ll take a look at some of the acne treatments that people are
trying out, from tried and trusted old school favourites to some of the weird and wacky ideas that people have come
up with.
Of course some of the obvious home acne remedies are diet, exercise and personal hygiene. A healthy diet can
have a dramatic effect on the condition of our acne, try and eat at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
Drink plenty of water, drinking water can help to combat many of our skin problems. Exercise regularly, any form of
aerobic exercise will carry oxygen to your cells and help give you a healthy skin. Washing regularly can also help
to combat acne, it’s suggested you should try washing your face twice a day in a solution of warm salty water. This
should help to leave your skin oil free without aggravating the condition.

Other Home Remedy Ideas
There are other home acne remedies we can try from items that many of us already have lying around in our homes.
Try putting toothpaste on your spot before going to bed (make sure you use paste not gel), this can help to reduce
the swelling overnight. One of the more pungent home acne remedies is garlic, crush a couple of cloves and apply to
the face one or two times a day. Some recommend applying fresh lemon juice on the affected area overnight, wash off
with warm water the following morning and you could see some improvement. The alkaline in strawberry leaves is said
to help reduce swelling, mash the leaves into a paste and apply directly to the pimple.
Rub ice cubes over your acne before going to bed, this can help to reduce swelling, said to work best on larger
pimples that have not yet formed a head. Take a cucumber and mash it into a paste, apply this to your face as a
mask for half an hour then rinse off. It’s certainly refreshing and is said to help prevent the formation of new
acne. Finally, one of the home acne remedies that comes highly recommended by some is honey. Honey is known for its
antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and has been used as a treatment for skin complaints for many years.
Rub the honey directly onto the affected area and leave for about fifteen minutes then rinse off. You could start
to notice an improvement after about a week.
As we have seen, the home acne remedies available are many and varied. Many of the claims for some of the home
acne remedies we have seen are purely anecdotal, the only way to know if they truly are effective is to give them a
go. A word of warning, some people can be allergic to some of the ingredients mentioned, if you are concerned about
this we suggest you arrange for one of the widely-available allergy tests before trying these home acne
remedies.
